Sadaqa storiesبسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, was distributing sheep meat in charity. He later came to ask the mother of believers A’isha if anything was left from it. She replied none is left except it’s shoulder. On that account he said to her :
“Nay, all of it is left except it’s shoulder; all but the shoulder is left for us as a good reward!.”
For mending ailment.
There was a Muslim Preacher who related his Sadaqa story in a lecture. He related that, a few years back, his little son was feeling very sick and his health conditions seemed to be in crisis a late night; as his fever reached a high level. The Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him said: “Mend your patiants with Sadaqa(Charity)”. This remarkable Hadeeth was in his mind, however it was very late at night for it to be convenient to find a poor person and give him charity. The Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him also said when he was being asked by the blessed companions weather giving water to animals is considered as a deed of reward: “ In every moist liver there is a reward”- meaning every living creature. This clearly implies that good deeds are rewarded not only when they are done to humanbeings but every creature. This Hadeeth he recalled whilst he was in the midst of his pondering. Quickly he rushed outside to find a cat which was wandering during nighttime and then he found an opportunity to present anything that is condsidered as charity in hope that his son’s health conditions would improve and recover. The next day signs of wellness could be noted on his son’s face and by the afternoon his son was well enough to play with his friends in the neighbourhood!
Masha’Allah.
From six dinars to sixty.
This story was said to be related on account of Imam Ali, the blessed companion of the Proph Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him), and also his respected cousin. Imam Ali was at his house when a poor man came and asked for charity. Six dinars was all the money Ali had in his convenience that day, which he didn’t hesitate to give to the poor man in charity. That same day, Imam Ali set out for a walk in which he encountered a fellow person who offered to sell him his camel which he said was worth 100 dinars. Imam Ali told him that his camel was surely beautiful and it would please him that he would buy it if only he had its price. The man told Imam Ali to take the camel anyway and pay back its price whenever it was convenient, so Imam Ali departed with a camel accompanying him. While in his way he encountered another man who showed interest in the camel and asked Imam Ali to sell it for him. Imam Ali told him that the camel was worth 100 dinars, but the man was so eager that he offered to pay 160 dinars worth it. Imam Ali was now obligated to repay the camel’s price to its original owner and he had 60 dinars to keep. That day he rushed to his wife Fatima, The Prophet’s daughter, and gave her glad tidings saying: “ when we gave the 6 dinars in charity , Allah rewarded us with a multitude of it’s value and now we have 60!”.
Surely, Allah promises to reward those who give charity a multiple of the reward.
Personal story.
One evening, a poor child from our neighbourhood came and asked for charity. At first I was a bit hesitate because I thaught that I wasn’t sure what to give and thought about telling him to come some other day but something, which I deeply assume is the Mercy of Allah, made me go towards the kitchen to find something to give in charity. When I got to the kitchen, I was struck when I found that I forgot the tea, which I made about 8 minutes prior to this, in the stove and the pot was about to blast as the water evapourated and the pot was burning. At that critical moment, Allah has sent me to close the stove- which was just a few inches away from the gas cylinder! I was grateful to Allah that He saved us from an approachment of a dangerous fire breakout! Alhamduli’Allah. ~
